Crop Circles on the Square
"Intelligent Design" Doesn't Necessarily Mean "Sacred," "Science" or "Hoax."
Perhaps we shouldn’t be looking for signs in the skies. We might learn something important about unknown forms of intelligent life by looking toward the earth and the riches on which we stand.
This important, if unrecognized, piece of the puzzle that makes up unexplained anomalous phenomena (UAP) are “Crop Circles.” These are images made from bent (not broken) stalks of growing wheat and other cultivated mainstays — intentionally shaped into patterns and forms that appear as simple geometric forms or dramatic renderings. These configurations often appear mysteriously in the fields of farmers in Southwest England and around the world, typically created by an unseen agency or force.
Investigators Steve and Karen Alexander of Temporary Temples report:
“Crop Circles are geometric patterns that appear mysteriously in crop fields. The crop is not cut, but is usually laid flat and most often swirled into an attractive floor pattern. Most patterns appear in cereal crops such as wheat and barley, but circles have been known to occur (in lesser numbers) in oilseed rape, maize, linseed, grass and even borage – to name a few. In the US many circles appear in soya, as it grown prevalently in that part of the world.”
A disappointingly large number of ufologists consider the entire subject of “Crop Circles” as unworthy of study by serious investigators. And a number of crop circle investigators think UFOs have zero relationship to Crop Circles. With all that’s happening in the world today, it’s likely most people have no clue either way.
Skeptics, hoaxers, misinformationists and disinformationists have made spurious and outrageous statements denigrating the enigma behind crop circles, including claims of authorship for the circles themselves.
Expert investigators can tell a real Crop Circle from a fake. Crushed and broken plant stalks, some times made on a drunken lark by Wiltshire partiers and hirelings with wood planks, rope and a measuring tape.
Experts also have seen thousands of messages to compare. The fake “messages” stand out by their lack of originality.
Like the UFO enigma, real crop circles honestly mystify the experts. Please see the work of longtime investigator Lucy Pringle for data, details and images.
Whatever is doing these formations is affecting the fundamental biochemistry and biophysics of the plants.” — W.C. Levengood, PhD.
Ufologist Linda Moulton Howe wrote in Glimpses of Other Realities, Vol. 1: Facts and Eyewitnesses (page 43):
Dr. W.C. Levengood is convinced that whatever causes the crop circle phenomenon uses a rapid and intense energy which produces cell changes in affected plants. He studied plant samples in 1991 to 1993 from the United States, Canada, England and Australia. Many samples were collected in a 1992 by a research team called Argus. It was organized by Michael Chorost, a student in English at Duke University, and Marshall Dudley, an engineer working at the time with a nuclear laboratory in Tennessee.
In 1991, soil from one formation had been tested at an Oak Ridge Tennessee nuclear facility and results suggested unusual isotope changes. Researchers agreed that more soil sampling was necessary. Marshall collected and studied several 1992 soil samples, but did not find isotope changes. However, plants from inside formations in England, Canada, the United States and Australia have shown consistent changes in cell structure, seed (growth and seed) development.
Ms. Howe continues on page 46:
Even though Dr. Levengood has found consistent patterns of cell pit enlargements in some formations, he said that simply measuring pit sizes cannot be used to verify a genuine formation. “It is a combination of several factors together,” he stressed, “which separate the genuinely mysterious formations from the hoaxed ones.”
Universal Languages: Images & Mathematics
Going by what the crop circle phenomenon produces — impressions made in the farm fields of our food — some one or some thing is sending us a message. And what the crop circle creators seem to be saying is, “We understand math, specifically: geometry.”
What follows is a true wonder: A Crop Circle configured as a visual representation of pi to the 10th significant figure. The story from 2008:
Most complex crop circle ever discovered in British fields
By Richard Savill
The Telegraph (UK), June 17, 2008The most complex, “mind-boggling” crop circle ever to be seen in Britain has been discovered in a barley field in Wiltshire.
The circle is a coded representation of pi to the 10th significant figure
The formation, measuring 150ft in diameter, is apparently a coded image representing the first 10 digits, 3.141592654, of pi.
It is has appeared in a field near Barbury Castle, an iron-age hill fort above Wroughton, Wilts, and has been described by astrophysicists as "mind-boggling".
Michael Reed, an astrophysicist, said: “The tenth digit has even been correctly rounded up. The little dot near the centre is the decimal point.
“The code is based on 10 angular segments with the radial jumps being the indicator of each segment.
“Starting at the centre and counting the number of one-tenth segments in each section contained by the change in radius clearly shows the values of the first 10 digits in the value of pi.”
Science writer Ian O’Neill and astrophysicist Mike Reed explain the math and the details. Click here for, A Graphical Representation of Pi.
I cannot think of anyone — sober, intoxicated or in an extended trance state of cosmic consciousness — with advanced degrees in math and science who could come up with a plan to graphically represent pi in a UK crop field. For that matter, I don’t know anyone who could even hoax the idea of pi and put it into a crop circle at all.
Videotape of a UFO Making a Crop Circle
Here’s where the UFO phenomenon and the crop circle phenomenon cross paths, if not collide. YouTuber Franz Münchinger calls the following:
“The only known ‘real’ footage/video recording of the formation of a crop circle, including visible UFOs from 1996, filmed by John Wheyleigh. The recording was taken near the ancient hill fort of Oliver’s Castle, near Devizes, Wiltshire.”
Herr Münchinger makes the point that the technology required to make a passable fake of the above video requires major computer time and expertise today — and exponentially more in 1996.
By way of background: As the young man walked from the hill overlooking the field where he made the video, he encountered a number of Royal Marines on a training run. The videographer then proceeded to a nearby village where he publicly shared it the same morning. People there also attested the scene and field pictured had no crop circle the previous day.
To me, the video above shows an oft-reported type of UAP in the form of a glowing orb or a ball of plasma in controlled flight, with no visible means of propulsion or lift. In the footage, a UAP seems to direct an invisible (gravity?) beam at the plants, making swaths of crops lie down and stay there.
If it’s fake, the author should make a fortune in Hollywood or Silicon Valley. He or she earned it.
If the video is real, wow! I wish more people would see and share, for it appears as if an unknown intelligence is making an effort to get a message across through the universal language of imagery and mathematics, each both science and art.
One message is very obvious, no matter who or what made the images revealed and shared in the Crop Circles: This is a truly amazing universe, including whoever and whatever we share it with. To me, that is truly miraculous.
